The Avalon is proud to be hosting the CUTTYHUNK ISLAND RESIDENCY.

What better place than beautiful, remote Cuttyhunk to escape the distractions of everyday life and focus on writing and art.  In 2016, we launched our Residency program, bringing artists and writers to the island for a week of workshops, lectures, concerts, and readings. All nightly events are free and open to the island community. The Residency has hosted Pulitzer Prize winning author PAUL HARDING, National Book Award winner NATHANIEL PHILIBRICK, novelist MARGOT LIVESEY, New York Times bestselling author EMMA CLINE, painters ALEX KANEVSKY and HOLLIS HEICHEMER, and a range of visiting musicians and speakers. The Residency is a biannual program open to around fifteen participants, offering a number of scholarships.
